This update for our Redwood Fusion theme is HUGE! The list of elements that have been updated is more than the elements that were NOT updated! While this is a very exciting update, it is significant, so you need to pay attention to the details.
Please check out this video to get the run-down of what is included in all of the changes, as they are extensive and some are very important... especially if you have a child theme in place.
The biggest change in this update is that all instances of jQuery have been completely removed! This will be a big improvement to the performance of your website, while also adding tons of flexibility and functionality. Most of the theme modules have been modified, some significantly. These changes involve increased organization of fields and style fields, added features, replacements of jQuery and related scripts, and many other items.
Some of the modules updated to get rid of jQuery include: Blog Isotope Listing, Team Repeater, Mega Menu, Hero Carousel, Logo Slider, and more.
What If You Have a Child Theme?
This update is most important if you have a child theme in place. A child theme includes a copy of the base.html file. As jQuery was removed, there are numerous items in the base.html file were removed... so you'll need to remove them from the child theme version. Be sure to compare the two files and apply the needed changes to the child theme file.
Beyond the base file, you'll find that many of the modules also underwent significant changes as jQuery was removed and some scripts replaced or modified. You need to closely check any modules that you have cloned into your child theme to customize. If it is a module that used jQuery, and the theme no longer has it, you will have problems. You'll need to re-clone the updated modules and then re-apply any customizations.
